In our opinion, Vina Vik is one of the most exciting wine projects taking place in the world: After a night at Santiago’s newest boutique hotel, The Aubrey, we will lead you into wine country to get involved with owner Alexander Vik’s quest to create the best wine in Latin America.  Combining passion with age-old oenology, and the latest technology with some of the finest terrain in Latin America, a trip to Vina Vik will give you the chance to experience the creation of a world-class wine.  Set in the Millahue valley, known by indigenous tribes as ‘The Place of Gold’, the Vina Vik Hacienda offers exceptional views across the vineyards and out to the majestic Cordillera of the Andes.  The terroir was carefully selected by Vik after meticulous soil studies that stretched across Latin America.  With a reputation for excellence already demonstrated by his previous two ventures (Playa Vik and Estancia Vik in Uruguay’s Jose Ignacio), we are keeping a very close watch on this one. After a private tasting at the Vina Vik, head out with Dehouche’s expert guide, who will take you on a tour of Chile’s top vineyards, teaching you about the different wines and the special techniques used to make them, so you can judge for yourself how Vik compares.

The hacienda’s guest house was designed by famous Chilean architect, Smiljan Radic, in a manner that is very much in keeping with the Vina Vik’s focus on the environment. Perched on top of the hillside, with 360 degree view of virgin forest, vineyards and the lake, the sleek and understated modernity showcases the spectacular views.  Although plans to build a 16 room boutique are a-foot, at present accommodation consists of only 4 suites in the main house  which creates an intimate feel to the property shared by the communal dining room and two large terraces.  Contact Dehouche to book a tailor-made wine itinerary… before the secret gets out.
